Blogging as a business tool

Blogging has become a rage in today's web 2.0 talk mediums. Although not much associated with web 2.0 as such it is very much a part of it weather one likes it or not. For this very reason blogging is set to increase in popularity and major business will become players in the blogosphere sending the whole medium into a new sphere altogether.

So is blogging a viable tool for business? What are the gains for a company to start a blog attached to their business or site? Well on the first question the answer is very simple and its a resounding big YES, The 2nd question requires some explanation and hopefully that is what I will aim to address.

So what are the benefits for a company in starting a blog! Many and all can not be listed in one place. But as a pointer here are what I believe to be the major benefits that can be gained from blogging by the businesses.

First and foremost brand exposure: Companies stand to gain a lot of exposure for their brand to their readers. The beauty of a blog is being dynamic content sites search engines love them to bits and they will be indexed very very quick. I've had some of my blogs and content indexed within hours of notifying the search engines and thus noticed almost immediately giving me a lot more exposure than I would have got from a static web page.

Secondly a boost to communication: People love to talk and interact with who they are dealing with and a blog gives them a sense of community. blog commenting connects the individual visitor with the people behind the company, a rapport is formed and once the communication ball is rolling leads can be generated and deals finalized This is an old corner shop trick and the reason why they do so well - they are part of the community and by communicating with their customer they make more sales.

Thirdly more sales thus more revenue: Unless you can monetize your visitors then there is no point in having a site let alone a blog. As we can see from the second point above, effective blogging will generate more revenue for the business. And since blogs are dynamic content hubs not only will they keep on pulling in new visitors but the initials ones will come back time and time again to find and read more articles. This is where you utilize the tool further by promoting more of your business and generate more revenue.

All that said, blogging is no mean task. It takes a lot of dedication and passion to achieve the right results. There is more to blogging than first meet the eye, a lot of behind the scene work takes place to make the blog what it is and if done correctly that is what will make it popular and a beneficial tool to have.

I will aim to talk about the behind the scene work involved in my next article. I hope this one is of benefit and I have brought some insight to how a blog can be a good tool for your business. So if you don't already have a blog them my suggestion would to start one asap, but be sure to plan it ahead - after all this is part of your business enhancement strategy and no business should be run without a plan in place.
